San Francisco Nights - Day 2 continued, Day 3

Wedding festivities

I forgot to post about the wedding cake.  After dinner, the  guests moved on to the lodge for dessert and dancing.  A band was already on stage ready to perform. The tables were all set for guests. Another bar set up too, plus a coffee / tea bar and the ultimate ice cream bar where you served yourself.  It was such a great idea.

One thing we all notices were signs and  bronze statutes of storks everywhere on the grounds and indoors. We never knew the significance of the stork other than a possible mascot for this so-called gentleman's club. Hmmm....have to think about this for a while.

The band started playing, every began dancing, then the wedding cake was cut shortly after.  The cake was a lemon, yellow and chocolate layer cake placed upon a piece of hand carved wood.

my favorite photo with the bride and groom

Sunday morning - we got up around 8:00, showered, packed and Teresa drove us to the bride's house for brunch. We arrived around 9:30 only to see that we were one of the first guests there.  The bride and groom hadn't arrived either, so we chatted with the parents and ate some fine catered food of egg casseroles (one veggie and one not), fruit salad, danishes, coffee, tea and mimosas.

20 minutes later the newlyweds arrived and we briefly chatted and said our goodbyse. The newlyweds were due to leave on Monday for their honeymoon to Bora Bora. How exciting!!

The drive to the city took maybe half an hour and since it was Sunday so there was little traffic to deal with. Teresa dropped us off at our hotel, The Baldwin Hotel, which was very quaint but very comfortable. We were close to everything: Chinatown, Union Square and the shopping area was a few blocks away, North Beach was north of Chinatown, and the famous CityLights Bookstore of the Beatnik era Jack Kerouac fame was on the intersection of Chinatown, North Beach and the red light district. How convenient. :) We were in the heart of it all.

More to come....
